This is a regular go to in town. But, the Chile Rellenos have been undercooked twice now. Still good but not great. The rest of their food has been very good.

Such a cute place! Walking in the staff motioned for us to sit anywhere. There was patio seating but it was a bit chilly so we sat inside. Bar area was popular and look like they do some drink specials. A couple tvs with sports on but not intrusively loud. Lots of parking. The booths were beautifully decorated. We were so hungry I forgot to take pictures but that's also a good thing. The food was good. Little guy got his usual carne asada tacos a la carte with nothing on them - he said the meat was well seasoned and tasty. Hubby got a Al pastor torta - it was Huge. He only ate half. Commented the meat was good and the bread was soft, grilled perfectly and overall very good sandwich. I got the chicken mole plate. I don't like eating chicken on the bone in a restaurant (me being dainty, lol) unless it's fried chicken wings - so this was a treat because their chicken mole was not on the bone. The mole was kinda sweet but I like it that way. I would have liked a bit more spice but I know mole is regional and familial flavors. I thought it was good. Beans and rice pass my test - moist and flavorful. The bathroom was clean - I always think if a restaurant has a clean bathroom I'll trust for a clean kitchen. Kinda odd the ladies room was a single toilet and two sinks. But I thought if I had a couple littles in there with me we could all wash our hands at the same time. I'll keep this spot on my list next time I'm in the area! The staff was great and we left very well fed!

It does a good job for what it is, casual Mexican cuisine. It's easy to come in, get a good meal with respectable service at a reasonable price. They are pretty good about getting us prompt refills of drink and chips. They have a selection of alcoholic drinks that hit the spot.

I love dining at La Hacienda because it offers a vibrant and flavorful experience unlike any other. There was great service got served instantly.

We came here after the half marathon and were sat and served food immediately! Everyone in the restaurant was very friendly and the food was delicious! I highly recommend if you're looking for a very casual night with good mexican food - the refried beans were so delicious and reminded me of my family's cooking!

Our first visit to La Hacienda Mexican Grill. Nice relaxing meal. The host made us feel very welcome. The food was fresh. It was not your standard Mexican food. It was special.

Classic California-style Mexican food. Located in a strip mall across from Safeway, La Hacienda Mexican Grill is the sister restaurant to La Hacienda Sonoma Bar and Grill located on Highway 12 in Boyes. Despite an overly bright and sometimes noisy dining room with concrete floors and hard wooden seating, it is a good place to grab a bite. The menu is not innovative, nor do you really want it to be. With all the usual favorites -- burritos, tacos, fajitas, tostadas and the like -- it's really Mexican comfort food, not fine dining. Be sure to start with chips and salsa ($2, unfortunately). The chips are super-crisp and not at all greasy, and the salsas are amazing. The salsa roja emphasizes the sweet note of tomatoes and packs a piquant kick. The tomatillo-based salsa verde is redolent of lime balanced with a good level of spice. A go-to is the two-item combination ($18), and a favorite incarnation is two soft pollo asado (grilled chicken) tacos complemented by a good helping of tomato-infused rice and refried beans topped with melted cheese. The tacos are delicious: the grilled chicken is moist and tender with fresh pico de gallo mounded on top. With homemade broth and a good portion of pulled chicken, the tasty tortilla soup ($14) is accompanied by fresh avocado, tomatoes, cilantro and onion and topped with crunchy tortilla strips. It's a meal for one person by itself and also works as an appetizer for two to share. Service is fast and always friendly. Pro tip: Burritos are usually served "wet" (topped with sauce); if you do not like your burrito served this way, be sure to specify upon ordering. La Hacienda Mexican Grill is a go-to for Mexican food close to downtown Sonoma.
